Spruce Up Northwest

Our Commitment to Giving Back to the Portland Community

We make a living by what we get, but we make a life by what we give.”

– Winston Churchill

We Believe in Building Community, Charity, Compassion, and Paying It Forward.

At Spruce Up Northwest, we take every opportunity to give back where possible. Our various support initiatives reflect our dedication to building community and fostering compassion.

We believe that strong communities are built by showing up for one another. From youth sports and local schools to non-profits and families in need, we’re proud to invest in the people and causes that make Columbia County and the greater Portland area such a special place to live.

Supporting Our Schools

Spruce Up Northwest is dedicated to supporting local schools and fostering community growth. As a proud Sauvie Island School PTC Directors list sponsor, we contribute to developing and enriching the educational environment.

Additionally, our commitment extends to Scappoose High School, where we sponsor the girls’ basketball, girls’ tennis, and baseball teams. Through these sponsorships, we aim to enhance student-athletes’ experiences, promote sportsmanship, and encourage a healthy, active lifestyle among students.

Ramon volunteers as a soccer coach for his son’s team, and Shanon is a dedicated volunteer at Sauvie Island School, serving as the secretary of the Parent-Teacher Committee and as a reading volunteer.

We support education and extracurricular activities to help our community thrive.

Supporting Local Sports

Columbia County United U13 Competitive Soccer Team pictureWe know the power of sports in keeping kids moving, building confidence, and teaching teamwork. That’s why we proudly sponsor a variety of local youth teams, including:

  • Scappoose Girls Tennis Team – Donations helped the athletes purchase high-quality gear to compete with pride.
  • Columbia County United U13 Competitive Soccer Team – Our sponsorship covered uniforms, league registration, and other essentials. Both Shanon and Ramon also volunteer as soccer coaches, sharing their love of the game while building confidence and teamwork in local youth.
  • Scappoose Boys Baseball Team & Scappoose Girls Basketball Team – Supporting young athletes as they develop skills, build friendships, and grow through the discipline and teamwork of competitive sports.

Sports build more than athletes—they build community, physical strength, and self-esteem—and we are proud to support them.

Championing Dyslexia Awareness

Spruce Up Northwest was honored to sponsor the International Dyslexia Association – Oregon Chapter’s Student Self-Advocacy Workshop. With two children who are dyslexic, this cause is especially close to Shanon and Ramon’s hearts. They are dedicated to supporting programs that empower students to better understand their learning differences and advocate for themselves in school and beyond.

Education is at the heart of our giving. We served as the Director’s Level Sponsor of the Sauvie Island School Auction, a critical fundraiser for the school our children attend. Shanon and Ramon also volunteer regularly, helping to nurture the school’s unique learning environment and supportive community.

Supporting Michelle’s Love

We proudly support Michelle’s Love, a non-profit dedicated to helping individuals and families face tough battles. Recently, we teamed up with Michelle’s Love and Dealers Supply to provide a free roof replacement for Junia, a single mom bravely fighting cancer. This collaboration highlights our commitment to community, compassion, and making a positive impact in the lives of those in need.

Caring for our Employees

Taking care of our employees should be a given and not worth mentioning; however, in the roofing and exterior maintenance world, employees are often underpaid and taken advantage of. At Spruce Up Northwest, we know that there is no business without our talented and hard-working employees. We believe in compensating them fairly for the hard work and sacrifice they make every day. We also pay them a bonus for every good online review they receive!

At Spruce Up Northwest, giving back isn’t just part of our business—it’s part of our family’s mission. Together, we can build stronger homes, stronger families, and stronger communities.
